'Behind the Grey' - Rob Youngson
1st March - 29th March 2008

Behind the Grey is a collaborative exhibition exploring the role of landscape in the digital realm. Artists Robert Youngson, Laurence Quant and Mark Ulf Pedersen are strongly influenced by a traditional understanding of landscape and the sublime. Their themes reflect a fitting interest in the still and changeable, the minute and vast and the simple and complex.

Whilst exploring traditional notions of landscape, each artist works with a desire to push computer technology into delivering results beyond the predictable (beyond the factory settings). Pedersen and Quant use computer technology to create large-scale lenticulars and etched, unfilled aluminium pieces respectively. Youngson explores the digital medium s textural qualities as if painting with a mouse. He allows areas of the work to reveal the medium through deliberate pixelation, contrasting them with other areas apparently glazed in rich oil paint.

Preview: Thursday 6th March, 6-8 pm
