Adam Closs 'Blue Series'
13 June 11 July

Established Bristol-based artist Adam Closs unveils his latest series at the Grant Bradley Gallery.

Inspired by a trip to Essaouira, Morocco, and the pigment lapis lazuli, Adam Closs Blue Series comprises four abstract works large enough to lose yourself in. Evocative curl and lines swoops through the works, changing with the light so that every time you gaze at them youll see something new.

Colours affect you emotionally, Adam says. I like the idea that you can sit down in front of a picture, be drawn in by it, and emerge feeling calmer. For me blue is a very therapeutic, inspiring colour that creates space in your mind room to be. This is my work of the moment very spontaneous, and a sort of antithesis to the stresses created by the troubles currently facing so many people.

About Adam

While studying at Lanchester College of Art in 1973, Adam met Kriss Evetts, with whom he worked collaboratively on abstract works. The pair worked together for five years before deciding to focus on solo projects. Between stints working as a carpenter and throughout six years of training and working as a psychotherapist, Adam has continued to paint prolifically, mainly producing works of 4ftsq and above, as well as smaller micro paintings of about 1ftsq.

Adams work has been shown in galleries across the UK, as well as at venues such as the Tobacco Factory and Bordeaux Quay in Bristol.

He describes his work as representations of a world which abounds in clues and messages and hints towards unknown truths.
