Donald Macauley

'A Life in Paintings'

May 8th-29th 2010

Donald Macauley is taking up the whole of the gallery's two main spaces with a culmination of his life's work as an artist. This landmark show deserves to be seen in person.

Donald uses vibrant colours to turn the everyday into something special, something to be studied and appreciated, rather than ignored. By using such dramatic colours and intircate detail, Donald evokes an emotional landscape, something which is relevant to us all.

Donald has been mastering his craft for 44 years, after starting painting in school when he was 16. His work has a unique style to it, something that captivates the spectator. Painting for himself, rather than for a buyer, Donald's work is filled with a strength and depth depicted through realist scenery.
