'Patterns in Water' - Diana Van Loock 30th November 2007 - 17th January 2008 An exhibition of paintings and relief's, both current and retrospective. All depicting water, in one form or another. 'Rather than just copying the natural world I have tried to give a parallel experience of it - an analogue. Peanuts become crystals. Collage incorporates real leaves and twigs. Toffee papers, themselves part of the reflections, become reflective'. 'I am interested in the way that soft materials can wear away hard materials. In 'Hole in the Ice' fine spray from a pump has carved through the ice on a pond. Most of my paintings reflect this kind of change or disintegration. To view this as positive one must suspend dependence on permanence and see the replacement of one thing by another as if the change made something equally beautiful.' Preview: Friday 30th November - 6-8pm [ back to exhibitions ] |
